Written on a piece of paper entitled: From the desk of Irmgard Fahsholz. I always loved her German accent. My question is this: do these pickles keep one year in the refrigerator? I don’t remember making this recipe on the farm.
Ingredients
1 red pepper
1 green pepper
18 cucumbers, peeled
8 medium onions, sliced
3 tablespoons salt
BRINE
4 cups sugar
3 cups white vinegar
1 tablespoon celery seed
1 ½ teaspoons turmeric
Method
1. Combine red pepper, green pepper, cucumbers, onion and salt. Let stand. Pour off liquid.
2. Cook brine.
3. Bring sugar, vinegar, celery seed and turmeric. Bring to a boil. Pour over cucumber mixture while hot. Cover and refrigerate. Keeps one year.
