This is a well used recipe. I know it sounds odd to bake a pie in a brown bag, but it works! In fact, one can actually order pie paper bags on line.
Ingredients
PIE FILLING
3 or 4 large apples
½ cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
½ teaspoon nutmeg
½ teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 unbaked 9″ pie shell
TOPPING
½ cup sugar
½ cup flour
½ cup butter
Method
1. Pare, core and quarter apples. Toss to coat well. Spoon into pie shell. Drizzle with lemon juice. Combine remaining sugar and flour. Cut in butter. Sprinkle over apples. Slide into a heavy brown bag. Clip.
2. Bake at 425 degrees for one hour.
