Mom must have written this out for me for me when I was first gardening. Do I ever remember scrubbing cucumbers in the laundry sink as a child.

 7 quarts

Ingredients

 Brine

 6 ½ cups cider vinegar

 13 cups water

 1 cup pickling salt

Cucumbers

Dill

Method

1. Boil vinegar, water and canning salt for 15 minutes.

2. Wash cucumbers. (Insert childhood dread at this moment…..)

3. Put two large heads of dill in each quart jar.

4. Pack cucumbers tightly.

5. Place jars in hot water bath, covering jars with water. Bring to a boil. Immediately take off burner. Let stand until cool, at least 4-5 hours.

6. This recipe of brine makes 7 quarts of dill pickles, depending on how they are packed. If there is any leftover, keep until next batch.
