Ingredients

SAUCE

 ¼ cup baking cocoa

 ½ cup sugar

 ½ cup brown sugar

 1 ½ cups hot strong coffee

CAKE

 ⅓ cup butter

 ⅔ cup sugar

 1 egg

 ½ teaspoon vanilla

 1 cup flour

 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

 ¼ teaspoon salt

 ⅓ cup milk

Ice cream or whipped cream, optional, to serve.

Method

In a saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients and keep warm. Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, beat butter, sugar, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add alternately with milk to the egg mixture. Spread into a greased 8×8″ baking pan. Pour sauce over the batter. DO NOT STIR. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until cake tests done. When finished, the cake will float in the hot mocha sauce. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired. About 9 servings.
