Mom was such an expert at so many things. Her rosettes were just one example. Her directions are very specific for these.
Ingredients
1 cup flour
1 cup sweet milk
2 eggs, beaten lightly
1 teaspoon sugar
dash salt
shortening, for frying
Method
1. Mix ingredients well. Put rosette iron in shortening and wipe on paper towels.
Dip in rosette mixture. Do not get any batter on top side of iron. Dip in hot
shortening and fry until bubbles begin to subside or until golden brown.
2. Turn iron upside down and tap on edge of pan to remove excess grease. Tap
iron with silver knife handle and carefully remove. When cool, dust with sugar.
Store in cardboard box in cool place.
