It made me so happy to see a picture on FB of Jennifer baking this recipe with Caroline. She even used a spam can as a cookie cutter!! Maybe I’ll get a picture of that event loaded here, eventually. I wish you all luck with the icing recipe.

Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs, well beaten
½ cup molasses
½ cup sour milk
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
4 teaspoons soda
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon ginger
5 cups flour
ICING
1 ½ cups sugar
½ cup water
1 teaspoon vinegar
2 egg whites, well-beaten
12 cut up marshmallows
Method
Cookies:
Combine sugar, shortening, eggs, molasses, sour milk, cream of tartar, soda,
cinnamon and ginger. Add flour. Mix well. Chill one hour. Roll on floured board
and cut. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) until done.
Icing:
Boil sugar, water and vinegar to medium ball stage. Pour over two well beaten
egg whites and cut up marshmallows. Ice the cookies and let icing dry on
cookies before serving.
