Another recipe chain card. This one was from Mrs. W.J. Abbott from Sioux City, Iowa.

These were exchanged before there were zip codes.

Ingredients:

2 cups sugar

1 cup butter

3 eggs

(null) rinds and juice from 2 oranges

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1 1/2 pounds seedless raisins

1/4 pound citron, cut fine

1/2 cup nut meats

1 cup sour milk

1 teaspoon soda

4 1/2 cups flour

Directions:

1. Beat butter and sugar to a cream.

2. Add the well beaten eggs, then rind and orange juice, nutmeg, nut meats and soda.

3. 3 1/2 cups flour and remaining flour add to the fruit and mix well into the cake.
