A recipe Mom wrote down from the Forum.

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup coca cola classic
  • 2 cups flour
  • ⅓ cup butter
  • ½ cup Crisco
  • 3 heaping tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 ½ cups miniature marshmallows
  • Frosting
    • ½ cup butter
    • ⅓ cup coca cola classic
    • 3 tablespoons cocoa
    • 1 cup miniature marshmallows
    • 1 cup chopped pecans
    • 1 pound box confectioner’s sugar

 

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Sift sugar and flour into mixing bowl.

3. Set aside.

4. In saucepan, blend coca cola, butter, shortening and cocoa and bring to a boil.

5. Remove from heat and add to flour mixture.

6. Add eggs and beat until well blended.

7. Add the buttermilk, baking soda, vanilla and marshmallows.

8. Mix well.

9. Bake in greased 9×13 pan.

10. Frost warm cake with coca cola frosting.

Frosting:

1. In saucepan, blend butter, coca cola and cocoa and bring to boil. Remove from heat.

2. Add marshmallows, pecans and sugar.

3. Mix well.

4. Spread on warm cake.

5. If frosting is too thick, add a bit of cola.

Notes:

 It seemed odd to me that 2 cups of flour was listed twice. I have copied the recipe as she had written it.

However, if you do make this recipe, it could be she accidentally added that second 2 cups of flour by mistake.
